Purchase your ticket for the 2018 Iron Sharpens Iron Luncheon. Hosted by the Iron Men’s Ministry of Pleasant Green Baptist Church at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. Located at 4801 Rockhill Road, KCMO 64110. Plated Lunch will be provided by Kauffman Foundation catering staff. Guest Speaker: Abdul Yahaya (Business Owner | Engineer), who will be sharing “The Open Minds Story.”

Speaker Bio

Abdul Yahaya is an award winning leader and small business owner, with a professional background in Civil Engineering. Abdul was born in Ilorin, Kwara Nigeria to Amori and Mariam Yahaya and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Rockhurst high school a college preparatory Jesuit school, which he graduated with Honors. He continued his education at Kansas State University to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Leadership Studies in 2008. He became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. while at K-State. Upon graduation from K-State his accepted a job with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) as a Highway Designer and worked there for over 4 years. He currently works for the City of Gardner, KS in the Public Works Dept. were he was asked to develop a multi-year and multi-million dollar Pavement Management Program to help stimulate the city’s economic growth. He currently manages the 10-year, 10 million dollar Pavement Management Program.

Abdul married Alicia Yahaya in 2009 and currently lives in Olathe, KS with their three beautiful girls. Together they own and operate a school called Open Minds Child Development Center where they care for and educate over 100 children: infants to preschool and school age. Abdul is a Man of God and family who is always looking to inspire the next generation. He currently has 10 years of experience designing and managing transportation & infrastructure projects and the ability to take a startup business to a million dollar enterprise.
